Summertime Living

With the New Year officially here, summer is in full swing Down Under. Ninety degree days are predicted for the rest of the week, so we'll be looking for ways to stay cool. The up side to hot weather is beautiful mornings for breakfast on the patio.

Plus, the garden loves the heat. Tonight we enjoyed a summer feast of green beans, tomatoes, zucchini, and dill sauce on salmon, all fresh picked from the garden this evening (except the salmon).

Zach loves the fresh produce. Especially the tomatoes (pronounced to-mah-toes). Notice the tomato seed on his lower lip; he's saving that for later.

The swiss chard (or silverbeet as it is known here) is fun to play with but not as much fun to eat according to the babe.

Soon Zach will be picking the tomatoes as fast as they ripen. It took Kate a while to learn to wait at least until the tomatoes were orange before picking and eating.

Are you sure you didn't get that picture of the veggies off of some stock photography website somewhere? They look a little to perfect to be real. But then it could be that it snowed here last night, so imagining fresh veggies from the garden is a little far from my mind at the moment. Glad to know Zach has his head screwed on right when it comes to swiss chard. I must agree with him on that... so he must have gotten that from his Auntie Laura :) If we leave more comments like this, will you post more pictures of Zach more often? :)

There is a lad named Zacharoo
Who's favorite food is to-mah-too.
It gives him strength to crawl and climb.
He loves Down Under summertime!
